"A few days after a late winter storm this April 2009, a deer came in search of food on the site of the centre on the outskirts of Toronto, Canada. As this naive animal gently nibbled on grass beginning to defrost from the unseasonal weather, the realization of how we are affecting the planet and wildlife dawned. This deer seemed to bring with it a teaching: Compassionate nature takes care of all, despite our non-compassionate actions."
