The new book of Srinivas Arka “LA AVENTURA DE DESCUBRIR TU SER, Un viaje de la mente lógica al corazón emocional y al estado puro de conciencia” has just been published. This book of inspired wisdom was first published in English in the year 1998. Since then, it has been revised with at least two other versions, thus making this final version totally up-dated and comprehensible to the modern reader. From here, we sincerely thank all the people who have collaborated, many of who have been selflessly involved to make the publication of this book possible. The contents of Adventures In Self-Discovery, are the expressions of Srinivas Arka’s thoughts that flowed spontaneously at open audiences. Rich in rational thought, poetry, metaphysics and practical wisdom, this book offers a rare blend of scientific understanding and spirituality, nourishing both the heart and mind. From Spain, we recommend that each and everyone of you should read “LA AVENTURA DE DESCUBRIR TU SER” because its message is Universal. Together with the practice of Arka Dhyana, it gives you the very keys that permit you to unlock the door to your inner Self so you can find the treasures lying there, waiting to be acknowledged by you and then offered to the world. Published by Ediciones Mandala, it will be soon available in the best bookshops of Spain and South America. As our skin, the earth, the
atmosphere and every form of existence has many layers, so also does
human
consciousness.
The world, nature,
life and the universe are experienced differently according to the
level of our
consciousness.
The whole experience of this
could
be very enlightening and fulfilling. Meditating intuitively can help
one to
achieve this. Without this approach it is remotely possible to reach
this height
in our life time.

Latest News on the Arka Foundation Retreat, India
2 August 2010
Morning
Delegates from different countries arrived and settled. The following day was gloomy and cloudy. Experimenting on sounds all retreat members sat in the open-without sunshine. Coincidentally as they started uttering humming sounds collectively, to everyone's surprise an instant change in weather happened, the sun shone bringing smiles and cheers to everyone present.
Afternoon
The power of classical Karnatic style sounds. Everyone exercised their throats, bringing out the talent of singing with local experts, accomplished players of the flute, table and veena (Indian classical stringed instrument). It is said that people used to believe they can bring rain, heal somebody, make plants grow better, avoid catastrophes or decrease negative impacts on people communities, animal species and crops through these classical sounds. After this music session ended, another surprise on the same day adding to the former coincidence as everyone in the audience reached a peak in singing together with melodious live musical background, there burst rain for a very short period as though responding to their sounds of music and human voice. You may either laugh about, or make your own opinion or do your own research. We are simply sharing with you what happened there. These kinds of phenomena occurred in history of musicians and mystics.

How do I achieve inner peace?
Contentment brings inner peace. Whatever you have achieved, acknowledge it, embrace it and express gratitude then you become qualified to strive for a better future. Be appreciative of all that has happened so far. “Deliver more, expect less. Become more focused on your work than the results.”

Why Centre for Conscious Awareness?
“Everything begins from within oneself as feelings, thoughts, insights and intuitive emotions. Hence it is very essential first to raise one’s awareness about one’s positive potential and uniqueness in one’s energy and knowledge.
Going a step forward raising conscious awareness will help one to grow and serve humanity and the world more effectively with compassion and empathy transforming the world for the better also extending support to organizations who think along the same line”.

Arka Geetha/ Karnatic music session part 2
Many attendees expressed how much they enjoyed the Karnatic classical music session at the beginning of the retreat, so a second session was organised. Some expressed that they felt uplifted as if the flute was singing to their souls, the veena(Indian stringed instrument) was gently plucking away our worries and tabla was reminding the beat of our heart.

Early morning talk
Srinivas Arka gave an early morning talk on a question posed in an ancient Eastern script on how we can be happy, healthy and get rid of miseries, pains and sorrows. The answer was a simple one. We should take care of the basics or fundamentals which include eating properly, getting the sleep that the body requires and speaking meaningfully. Everything we do should be in moderation. Animals live life too the fullest, so to should humans. The attendees found that this talk resonated within them throughout the day as they were mindful of what they ate and how they spoke.
Ayurveda session
Ayu means life and Veda means knowledge. A local doctor who works in government Ayurvedic hospital Mysore named Rekha visited and explained the uses of many herbs and plants. The attendees then took a field trip on the Arka Foundation grounds picking some of the herbs and plants as the doctor described the benefits. Some other knowledge shared was that some common items such as garlic can be used as an antibiotic and to lower cholesterol. |

Question
How does self-awareness and spiritual consciousness relate to being successful in work life?
Answer
Self Awareness and spiritual consciousness are not related to just one sphere of life, but to every stage and every aspect of life.
To understand what success is, please read chapter 3 ‘Success and Failure’ in the book ‘Adventures in Self Discovery’ - Click here to view chapter on "Success and Failure."
Being successful at work is analogous to how productive you are. This requires good focus, confidence and communication, understanding people, keeping oneself positive and assuring friends and colleagues. The foundation for all these is having presence of mind and balanced emotions when required.
A prerequisite to all these is good health, which in turn depends on many things; good food, few worries, letting go of thing’s , good rest, harmony in the family, trouble-free neighbours and monetary resources. You can see how every sphere of your life is interconnected. It all begins with your mental and emotional state. You need motivation for the mind and body, but also inspiration for the heart.
These will come to you when you are receptive and open-minded with a spiritual affinity.
In conclusion, you need to do more than just think, you need to contemplate deeply on all you do and want to do. When your contemplation becomes even deeper, you have entered a meditative state where you connect with your inner self through the heart. This is where intuitive wisdom of the soul surfaces like tiny bubbles on the pond of the mind which lead you in the direction you should be going. Then, you radiate your true self, meaning and energy; this is what you truly want to experience; your unmasked true personality and unique presentation. As a consequence people become attracted to you. When harmony prevails, communication becomes clearer and the exchange of very inspiring knowledge takes place, then we all grow collectively towards higher consciousness.

We do not have to spend all our life time only in trying to understand why everything and everyone is, how the nature and the universe work.
We should also spend some time to look into ourselves to experience silence, reflect upon ourselves constantly and thus become more consciously aware of the treasure, potential and wisdom within us and outside us. Only then can we celebrate our unique presence with joy, health, wealth, harmony and enlightenment.
Facts, figures and truths are more powerful than our emotion, expectation, desire and imagination.
We must address them first practically through logic, effort and common sense and then can we become qualified to rejoice the outcome with the lens of our emotion. This then can be a celebration without fear or worry.

On 17th July, Srinivas Arka held a conference on personal growth and self development in Preston. It was a windy afternoon but the atmosphere was cosy with a very welcoming audience. The conference opened with Srinivas Arka describing the differences between mind consciousness and heart consciousness, he highlighted the necessity for people to dedicate time to discover and reawaken their heart centre.
“Everything has a centre. The cell has a nucleus, the body has a heart, the solar system has the sun”
~Srinivas Arka~
The conference was engaging, inspirational and interactive. Shortly before the conclusion, the audience was briefly introduced to the concepts in Arka Dhyana and then given an opportunity to take part in a touch and sound exercise involving the heart region. On the whole, it was a great introductory talk with everyone hoping for Srinivas Arka to return soon to Preston. |

"Although we wish, we cannot be present everywhere. That is the nature of this world and the limitation of our three dimensional existence on the physical plane.
However, the forces in nature allow us to gain a virtual, but spiritually inspired mystical experience of being wherever we want to be. Through a meditative process, our thoughts are empowered and propelled by our truest emotions."

On 15th July 2010, Srinivas Arka met with the Mayor of Preston, Councillor Albert Richardson. Councillor Richardson was elected to Preston City Council in 1978 to represent the Deepdale (now St.Matthew’s Ward). Over the years he has served as the Chair of Environmental Health and Control, Chair of Leisure Services, Chair of Equal Opportunities, Chair of Licensing and Chair of Eastern Area Forum. Councillor Richardson was also the Mayor of Preston for the year 1990 -1991.
On the morning it was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere at the local city council hall, where the main topic of discussion was the plans and vision of CCA to set up a community centre in the North West of UK. The vision includes an eco-friendly centre to be located within the countryside surrounding Preston where it will create numerous green jobs and allow at the minimum, plantation of 100 trees in 5 acres of land.
The plan is for a multi-purpose centre that will engage the local and national community to provide a peaceful environment for leisure, sports and learning. People will be able to learn music, dance and crafts, while having the opportunity to take part in nature themed exercises and share their knowledge and insights about how to live, learn and grow by being eco-friendly. Overall, it was a facilitative meeting between Srinivas Arka and the Mayor; it laid the foundation for the beginning of CCA in the North West.

Question:
Do trees and plants experience pain? Do they have life?
Answer:
“Yes, where’s the proof that they have life? The proof is they grow and yield something; it could be a flower, vegetable, fruit or foliage. That means there is life. We don’t see this in the mountain or rock. The rock is not producing. That means plants and trees have life. Because they have life we consume them and so we survive.
Wherever there is life there must be some intelligence. For plants and trees to grow, evolve and express themselves in a specific manner; like the papaya will give birth to only papaya, the apple plant will give birth to only apple and not grapes, unless humans interfere.
So, there must be some intelligence that controls specific growth and expression from plants and trees. Intelligence emerges from consciousness. Where there is life, there is consciousness. Where there is consciousness, there is an experience of pain and pleasure. When we have consciousness, we become conscious of our presence. We are aware of our body & mind and we are trying to understand ourselves more and more. Still, we haven’t completely understood our purpose, presence, the way our body functions and the way we interact with nature and the nature that’s connected within us deeply.
We don’t know our origin, the complete workings of our brain. We don’t know our destiny completely, humanity as a whole. We are still trying and struggling to make some assumptions, at least reasonable assumptions. We have developed the ability to express pain and pleasure quickly. But when we are unconscious, we are still alive with life but we cannot directly exhibit our reaction to pain and pleasure. The body still reacts even though you are unconscious and cannot feel the pain, but it is very subtle and dormant. We would not be able to tell yet, physiologists and medical scientists would know they are harming the body as it throbs somewhere although the person is unconscious. This means that although you have consciousness, at that moment in time when they’re experimenting on the body creating pain or pleasure, your body is reacting in some manner but you don’t know because you are unconscious.
So also, plants and trees have consciousness, but they are unconscious, deeply. The consciousness is somewhere lying beneath every cell. Therefore, they do express in some subtle manner the pain and happiness. Happiness means to them the comfort of nature or being in the required conducive temperature perhaps. A gentle breeze may help a plant or tree, also the presence of certain birds or species on the tree might help, and that may be comfort for the plant or tree. They have latent consciousness and we have not developed the ability to sense and understand pain or pleasure expressed by them. However, they do experience but not the way we experience and express directly. They can’t cry immediately but they experience. They are immobile, they are planted firm yet they can communicate thousands of miles with the clouds and with the deep earth and with animals as well. We become special humans when we minimise extra consumption of resources, when we develop the ability to empathise with them, nurse them and try to protect them. This can contribute more for the health of the planet and the environment.”
Question asked by a Pharmacist - London, UK
29th June 2010
"People have varied perceptions, opinions and experiences about spirituality sometimes even contradictorily,
but at the end of the day they may be subconsciously understanding and deeply experiencing
their own facts and truths in their hearts.
There is no one to judge who is right and who is wrong. Maybe the universe will never judge us,
but ever teaches us how to be open and accommodative to others feelings, thoughts and realised truths
and thus grow collectively towards enlightenment, acknowledging one another."
