"Why do people become depressed? This happens when a person starts believing they do not have a purpose, or when there is no motivation, creativity, innovativeness or anything inspirational happening in their lives, when there is a feeling of having achieved everything or a feeling of not having achieved anything, or constantly comparing one’s status, looks, wellbeing or progress with people ahead of them resulting in them feeling low about themselves. In some cases nothing interests them anymore or there is a tendency to frequently revisit unpleasant past events such as failures and disappointments. Some are excessively and apocalyptically concerned about the future of the world, or they have exaggerated ambitions but have made little or no practical effort to achieve them. Such people become depressed with the feeling that they are not being recognised by others or not useful to them. Although some are talented and knowledgeable they are not encouraged and recognised. Depression can certainly set in when one starts thinking that no one understands them and they feel alone and unreflected. All these factors can lead one into depression." - SRINIVAS ARKA
